Use: | JAK2 with reflex testing should be ordered if there is high clinical suspicion for a myeloproliferative neoplasm in a non-urgent clinical context. When this test is ordered, if a JAK2 mutation is not detected, reflex testing will be performed for CALR and MPL. There may be a delay in reporting CALR and MPL results if this is required. JAK2 mutations are present in almost all polycythemia vera (PV) patients; however, JAK2 mutations are present in only 60-65% of both essential thrombocythemia (ET) and primary myelofibrosis (MF) patients. CALR mutations are present in 20-25% of both ET and MF; while MPL mutations are present in approximately 3% and 7% in ET and MF patients respectively. |
