Causes for Rejection:Calcium alginate swabs are not acceptable. Specimens that do not meet the minimum volume requirements will be cancelled as  "Quantity not sufficient".

Specimen Processing:Store in refrigerator or frozen.
Shipping Instructions:Ship refrigerated or frozen.
Stability:7 days refrigerated. For longer storage, freeze.

Reference Range:
Negative HSV 1 & 2 not detected by PCR
Positive HSV 1 DNA detected by PCR
HSV 2 DNA detected by PCR
 
Use:Aids in the diagnosis of herpes simplex virus (HSV) infections, including qualitative detection and differentiation of HSV-1 and HSV-2.
