Use: | The presence of anti-Scl-70 antibodies confirms the diagnosis of scleroderma but does not exclude additional diagnosis, e.g., scleroderma and SLE or scleroderma and Sjogren's syndrome. Anti-Scl-70 antibodies are present in 20% of scleroderma patients irrespective of age and in the same percentage of males and females. In American patients with proximal scleroderma, anti-Scl-70 antibodies are more common in African Americans than in Caucasians. |
