Collection Instructions

Specimen:Urine, random collection
Optimal Volume:Submit entire collection in the original container. If reflexed to confirmatory testing, 20 mL, 13 mL minimum, is required.
Container:Plastic leakproof container, sterile

Processing and Shipping

Specimen Processing:Keep in original container. Initial testing requires 20 mL, 1.1 mL minimum; confirmatory testing requires 13 mL minimum.  Store in refrigerator up to 24 hours; freeze for longer storage.
Centrifuge highly turbid specimens before testing.
Shipping Instructions:Ship in original container at refrigerated temperature to arrive within 24 hours. Alternatively, ship on dry ice.
Stability:Refrigerate and test within 5 days of collection.
