Abbrev Code:CRYOGR
Order Code:LAB8266Order Name:Cryoglobulin, Quantitative with Reflex to Identification
Methodology:Cold precipitation with reflex to immunofixation.
CPT Codes: 82595 x1, 86334 x1
Test Includes:Quantitation of % cryoprecipitate in serum with reflex to identification protein in cryoprecipitate.
Turnaround Time:Test performed Monday-Friday; reported within 7 days.

Collection Instructions

Optimal Volume:13 mL
Minimum\Peds Volume:6.2 mL
Alternate Containers: Red (no gel)
Collection Instructions:Recommend collecting 2 plain red tubes. One tube may not yield sufficient serum volume. Place in warmed hot pack and deliver to laboratory immediately.
Causes for Rejection:Not maintained at 37°C prior to processing, gross hemolysis. Sample has been frozen. Less than 3 mL of serum received. Collected in a gel tube.

Processing and Shipping

Specimen Processing:Incubate at 37°C for 1 hour. Centrifuge at 37°C if possible. Transfer to a 15 mL conical centrifuge tube and centrifuge again at 37°C if possible to remove unseen RBC's. Aliquot 6 mL, 3 mL minimum, into a second 15 mL conical tube. Store in refrigerator.
Test Performed at or Referral Lab UM Specialty Core/Prot/Endo (Sebia B)
