Collection Instructions

Specimen:Feces, fresh diarrheal stool specimen, especially with blood or mucus.
Container:Plastic Leakproof Container or Sterile Stool Transport Vial
Causes for Rejection:Specimen contaminated with water or urine; specimen containing barium, oil, Metamucil, sample received in preservative, formed stool.
Contraindications:False negative test may occur if patient is on antibiotics.

Specimen Processing:Store in refrigerator.
Shipping Instructions:Ship at refrigerated temperature. Must arrive within 24 hours.
