Container:Purple (EDTA), Microscope slides
Collection Instructions:When bone marrow has been processed: Provide 4-6 unstained direct smears and concentrates, and 4-6 unstained blood smears (prepared from fresh blood or EDTA sample). When bone marrow has not been processed: Provide 1-2 mL bone marrow in EDTA, 4-6 unstained direct smears, and 4-6 unstained blood smears (prepared from fresh blood or EDTA sample).

Shipping Instructions:Ship slides in protective slide holder at room temperature.

Interpretive

Reference Range:Interpretive report by hematopathologist or pathologist.
Use:Evaluation of patients with suspected disorders of the hematopoietic system including all forms of leukemia, anemia, lymphoma, and myeloma. Also used for investigation of patients with metastatic malignancies and inherited metabolic disorders.
