Collection Instructions

Specimen:Blood smears, bone marrow smears or imprints
Container:Microscope slides
Collection Instructions:Provide 3-4 unstained blood smears (prepared from fresh blood or EDTA sample), bone marrow smears or imprints.

Interpretive

Reference Range:Interpretive report by hematopathologist upon request.
Use:In hematology, this stain has primary value in the diagnosis of erythroleukemia in which it is usually positive in the developing erythroid cells. A positive reaction in acute leukemia favors a lymphocytic differentiation as opposed to myeloid.
