Methodology:Aldehyde groups in glycogen stain bright fuchsia pink with leukofuchsin (Schiff reagent)
Test Includes:Periodic Acid Schiff Stain, Blood/Bone Marrow. If requested, interpretation by pathologist is performed at an additional charge.
Turnaround Time:Performed Mon-Fri. Results are available within 24 hours.
Special Instructions:If an interpretation is not requested, slides will be returned to the sender.

Collection Instructions

Specimen:Blood smears, bone marrow smears or imprints

Collection Instructions:Provide 3-4 unstained blood smears (prepared from fresh blood or EDTA sample), bone marrow smears or imprints.

Processing and Shipping

Shipping Instructions:Ship slides in protective slide holder at room temperature.

Reference Range:Interpretive report by hematopathologist upon request.
Use:In hematology, this stain has primary value in the diagnosis of erythroleukemia in which it is usually positive in the developing erythroid cells. A positive reaction in acute leukemia favors a lymphoctyic differentiation as opposed to myeloid.
