Interpretive
Reference Range: | A negative test does not exclude current Epstein-Barr infection. Abnormally high levels of IgG and rheumatoid factor could cause occasional false positive results.

Use: | EBV IgM antibodies appear 1-6 weeks after the onset of disease and may persist for 3-6 months. These antibodies are considered specific for the diagnosis of infectious mononucleosis. |
